Afrique au Féminin a intervenu auprès des étudiants en pharmacie à l’Université de Montréal pour discuter de la santé des immigrants établis au Québec. Ces étudiants faisaient une étude sur l’hypertension artérielle, ou l’élévation anormale de la pression du sang circulant dans les artères. L’hypertension artérielle est très fréquente au Canada, 40% des personnes entre 56 et 65 ans en souffrent. Les immigrants sont encore plus à risque de développer l’hypertension au fil des années après leur arrivée au Canada.
Ce partenariat entre les étudiants de l’Université de Montréal, l’Alliance des communautés culturelles pour l’égalité dans la santé et les services sociaux (ACCESSS) et Afrique au Féminin a donné lieu à la production d’une vidéo informative adaptée pour la communauté indienne et pakistanaise au sujet des risques de l’hypertension artérielle. Afrique au Féminin met with pharmacy students from the University of Montreal to discuss the health of immigrants who established themselves in Quebec. These students were studying hypertension, or the abnormal elevation of blood pressure in the arteries. Hypertension is very common in Canada, affecting 40% of people between the ages of 56 and 65. Immigrants are at an even higher risk of developing hypertension, increasing as years following their arrival.
The partnership between the students of the University of Montreal, the Alliance of Cultural Communities for Equality in Health and Social Services (ACCESSS) and Afrique au Féminin resulted in the production of an informational video to Indian and Pakistani communities.
